INVISALIGN IN DETAIL

How do aligners work?

Aligners gradually move your teeth towards your ideal smile as you change to a new aligner each week. You need to wear aligners full-time, but can remove them for eating and cleaning your teeth. In experienced hands at Midwestern Aligner Orthodontics, this modern orthodontic appliance gives you a genuine clear alternative to braces.

Advantages of Invisalign aligners

Your Invisalign aligners are custom-made for you, so they fit snugly and comfortably over your teeth. Aligners are very clear and thin, so most people won’t even know you are wearing them to improve your smile. Unlike braces, you can eat normally with aligners because they are removed for eating. Likewise, you can brush and floss your teeth well by simply removing your aligners.

Who can have aligners?

Adults, teens and even some 10 – 12 year olds can have successful treatment with Invisalign.

You may have heard that Invisalign is only suited to minor tooth straightening. This is no longer the case, as most complex tooth movements can be achieved with good planning by an orthodontist experienced with Invisalign. Come in for a consultation and Dr Leen can discuss how Invisalign can work for you or your child.

Are aligners a proven way to straighten teeth?

Yes! Over 5 million people have chosen Invisalign to improve their smile. Maybe you know someone who has had Invisalign? The appliance has been extensively tested and a rapidly increasing number of patients and orthodontists world-wide appreciate that aligners are a great way to straighten teeth.

What’s so good about a digital orthodontic treatment like Invisalign?

Digital technology makes things in everyday life more precise than the old analogue methods. Try watching regular TV once you have seen high definition digital or compare a fax transmission (if you millennials have ever seen one!) with a scanned and emailed image. At Midwestern Aligner Orthodontics, we use a completely digital workflow and the so your Invisalign treatment is digital from the start. We have the latest 3D tooth scanner to capture a 3D video of your teeth. You can even see a simulation of your teeth getting straighter right after you have your scan.

Dr Leen will then plan your treatment in detail and is able to control the movements of individual teeth to get your smile just right. This accuracy is especially important if your teeth are small or worn or you have some teeth missing because you might need veneers or other dental restorations. The 3D software and digital sharing makes it possible for Dr Leen collaborate with your dentist to deliver your new smile. Once Dr Leen has crafted your digital smile, your aligners will be custom made just for you. More information on “Aligner Treatment Steps”.

Will I have anything glued on my teeth with aligner treatment?

Yes, attachments are a crucial part of making aligners work well. But don’t worry, attachments aren’t visible like traditional braces. Attachments are clear “bumps” of material temporarily glued to your teeth. Beware of anyone claiming they don’t need attachments with aligners as attachments are what gives the precision needed to deliver a great smile. Attachments are not like orthodontic brackets (braces) as they are much smaller, completely translucent and not on every tooth. Attachments don’t collect food, are easy to clean around and people won’t notice them in social situations.
